Even if you’re not a massive date fan, you should still give these a go (unless you really hate dates). Salty peanuts, dark chocolate and soft dates go so well together. Kind of like a chocolatey, peanuty, salted caramel delight.

And they are nourishing too – fibre, healthy fats, protein and antioxidants. Perfect with a cup of tea. Great in a lunchbox (if they’re off to school check the nut policy first though, you may need to use seeds as the crunch factor). Ideal as a wee sweet treat after dinner. They’re not too tricky to make either. Melt some dark chocolate (I just popped a few squares into a cup and microwaved it until melted). Dip the date in the dark chocolate then dip into some salted, chopped peanuts. Or you could try other chopped nuts – almonds, Brazil nuts, pistachios, cashews. Or if you’re nut free swap the nuts for sunflower, sesame or pumpkin seeds.
