Keen for a TEA Nutrition Consult, but not sure what’s involved?

Nourishing food

A TEA Nutrition Consult (a full review of your eating pattern and current medical/lifestyle factors) can help identify what recommendations, tweaks and positive changes will enhance your wellbeing.

But many people wonder what’s involved with a Nutrition Consult. Will it be embarrassing? Judgemental? Not worthwhile? Will you need to go on a strict diet that is boring and unsocial? Will you have to buy in expensive foods and supplements? Is it something that only the rich or celebrities do?

The answer to all of these questions is a resounding NO!

Instead you’ll be given practical and tailored recommendations, based on your personal situation with empathy and understanding. To find out more as to what to expect at a Nutrition Consult with Sarah P, read some FAQs below…and if you’ve already decided to take the leap of faith and book one now, here’s a link to our email to book your session!

“In a world full of conflicting and confusing messages about nutrition and diets, Sarah Percy is a breath of fresh air. Sarah has a wonderfully kind, compassionate and non-judgemental way of helping you understand how to nourish your body and learn to eat intuitively. She helped us understand why the foods we eat have such an impact on our physical and mental health, explaining it in a way that was relateable and easy to grasp. Sarah gave us guidelines rather than rules for eating, and focused on fortifying our meals to improve the level of nutrition. And she backs it up with simple, easy to prepare recipes that the whole family will eat (even my bean-hating daughter, absolutely loves Sarah’s Mexican Chicken Traybake). We’re incredibly grateful for Sarah’s advice and support.” Nickie

What can I expect at the TEA Nutrition Consult?

Before the session – First you’ll receive a welcome email, along with a blank food diary to complete. This is not a test (!!) but helps me get a clearer picture of your eating pattern – what, when and how you eat! I’ll also ask for any information that will help me tailor your recommendations to your needs (blood test results, medical diagnoses, current exercise regime etc). We’ll find a mutually suitable time for a catch up at my clinic in Masterton or Martinborough, or we can catch up via Zoom which means I can see anyone anywhere in the world!

At the session – Next we’ll run through what you’d like to achieve with your nutrition/health first of all so we can ensure the session meets your needs. There’s no right or wrong with this…some clients are wanting to focus on their weight; others their digestive or hormone health; some to look at nutrition and lifestyle actions to support their mental health; and others to ensure a balanced diet for their whole family. With many years experience in the nutrition world, I’ve seen most things so can provide a balanced and knowledgeable approach to your health. Once we have a clear idea of your goals, we’ll work our way through:

  • My health and wellbeing questionnaire to get a snapshot of your current health and any pressure points in your current lifestyle
  • Your food diary to see what tweaks and positive changes will align with you achieving your health goals faster
  • Simple goals you can implement today to enhance your wellbeing
  • The opportunity to have your questions answered

Can I trust you to help me? I have some medical conditions to contend with, I want proven and evidence-based advice.

Absolutely! As a Registered Dietitian I have a deep knowledge and understanding of nutrition and many medical conditions/diseases. I studied at Otago University (majored in Human Nutrition in my undergraduate degree and then completed my Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics after completing the 18 month training at the Wellington School of Medicine) and have over 20 years experience working as a dietitian in acute care and proactive support.

Each year I receive an Annual Practising Certificate from the Dietitian’s Board, after submitting my continuing competency requirements (continuing education, practice review and cultural competency). I undertake various learning opportunities related to my work (science journal reviews, nutrition conferences, university based webinars and personal reading)…I love learning about nutrition!

If you have a specific health condition that I am not so familiar with, I will refer you on to someone who is experienced in this area. Whilst I have a broad knowledge of many nutrition issues, there are some specific inborn errors of metabolism or paediatrics that I am less familiar with and want you to have expert advice so will help you find someone who can help.

“Thank you for the practical advice to help me lower my cholesterol levels. I’m pleased to report that they have now reduced to near normal levels, and my doctor says I don’t need to go on medication. As a side effect, I’ve also lost 5kg!” Michael
